The Evolution of the AUF Nurses International Website PDF Print E-mail

THE EVOLUTION OF THE AUF NURSES INTERNATIONAL WEBSITE (www.aufnurses.org) After graduation, the Angeles University Foundation - College of Nursing (AUF-CON ) graduates embarked on their own journeys to practice their profession. Quite a lot of our alumni members went overseas to seek much greener pastures and a good number of them found their way in the beautiful United States of America. There have been numerous gatherings and mini-reunions among the AUF-CON graduates based in America, most especially in Southern California.

“How can we get the alumni together again?” has been the persistent question that arises whenever a handful of alumni members meet. The desire to rekindle the bond with their former classmates and batchmates was enough encouragement. “We need a website!” BENJ exclaimed in one of those once-in-a-blue-moon mini-reunions in June 2007.  “With the advent of the internet and its global outreach, we will be able to create a center of communication among the alumni of AUF through a well-functioning website. Through the website, we will be able to meet with another via cyberspace and connect with any alumni member wherever he/she may be,” BENJ further explained. The idea was well-accepted by everyone, but it remained a dream at that time.

But BENJ was committed to turning his dream of having a website into reality. So when AUF Chancellor Angeles visited California in August 2007, BENJ was able to get thumbs up approval by AUF Chancellor Angeles to proceed with the creation of the AUF Nursing International website. This was followed by an email from AUF Chancellor Angeles (in December 2007) confirming the designation of BENJ as the overall chairman of the AUF Nurses International website.

From that day forward, the 24/7 development of the AUF Nurses International website began and continues to this day.

On February 13, 2008, the AUF Nurses International website (www.aufnurses.org) was officially launched at the AUF College of Nursing by BENJ David in the presence of University Chancellor, Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles. The launch was also participated in by the faculty, staff and students of the AUF College of Nursing.

On May 24, 2008, Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles, University Chancellor, formally launched the AUF Grand Alumni Homecoming dubbed as ”MIKIT-IKIT, ABE-ABE KING AUF: A Grand Alumni Homecoming.” On that same day, the officers of AUF-CON were also elected and inducted. Mr. BENJ David of Nativity Class ’77 was elected as the President of the AUF-CON, External Affairs, with Don Ricardo Pineda, Jr. of Santugon Class ’93 as the Vice-President. It was also during this event that AUF Chancellor Angeles requested BENJ to organize another World Grand Reunion In Las Vegas and call it “Mikit-ikit, Abe-abe King Vegas!”

The very next day, BENJ had a meeting with the staff of AUF’s Management Information Systems Services. They ensured BENJ that they will provide technical support to the AUF Nurses international website. To further encourage BENJ to organize the AUF Grand Reunion in Las Vegas, Mr. Emil A. Canlas, Director, Office of Career Development Services-Alumni Relations for the alumni of the university, assured BENJ that he will coordinate whatever he needs in the Philippines for the said event.

Armed with the worldwide presence of www.aufnurses.org, BENJ began his roadwork to see if organizing a World Grand Reunion is feasible. After negotiating with a number of resort hotels, BENJ decided to launch the very first project to be undertaken by the AUF Nurses International website which he aptly named as “Mikit-ikit, Abe-abe King Vegas!”

So it is set. “Mikit-ikit, Abe-abe King Vegas!” will be held on July 31 to August 1, 2009 at the Monte Carlo Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee is BENJ David of www.aufnurses.org - the AUF Nurses International website.
